ProtoWrap is a completely original and independent project, developed by Gunnar Wolf. There are some programs already adressing some of the same issues Protowrap is aimed to, such as Wietse Venema's TCP Wrappers [3] or Marcus Ranum's nmap [4], and their success was motivator to the development of ProtoWrap. Their approach, however, is quite different from Protowrap, and Protowrap can be considered a completely original product.
Protowrap has been presented and discussed in several forums, including UNAM's international conference Seguridad en Cómputo 2000 and diferent mailing lists.
